Library Media Center

My name is Jeni Nix and I am proud to be in my 11th year as the Media Specialist at The Beech!

I am a product of Dorchester Schools and have worked in the district for 27 years, first as an elementary teacher and then a teacher-librarian. I have my undergrad in Elementary Education and my Masters in Library and Information Science, both from the University of South Carolina. I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher and was honored to be named as a District Honor Teacher in 2010. I have published multiple articles in The Media Center Messenger, the official publication of SC Association of School Librarians and have presented at numerous professional conferences at the state level.

I was also honored to be named Media Specialist of the Year for 2020-2021 by the SC Association of School Librarians. In addition, I served on the Board of Directors as Professional Awards Chair in 2021. I feel my greatest contribution has been the time spent with students finding their “just right book.”
